To generate quotes/orders very quickly you can scan a barcode straight into the quote screen. The product is added without any manual intervention.
The product barcodes you can scan are either:
- An EQ generated stock label with barcode showing the stock reference number. (Stock Control is in EQ Professional only).
- A manufacturer's EAN barcode which must be entered into EQ against the product data. (Some catalogues will already have EAN added, others will require you to add them).
Requirements:
- You need a 1D barcode scanner (any device such as USB or Bluetooth which functions as an input device to your computer).
This article explains how to check if products in the catalogue content already have EAN barcodes, or to assign them yourself, so they can be scanned onto quotes/orders quickly.
- Open the Product Catalogues icon on the main toolbar.
- Click the Search button to locate a product (see Catalogues Search (Locate Product))
-
Click the Properties tab and see the EAN box at the bottom:
- If there is already an EAN in there, it was included with the catalogue data you downloaded from EQ. You don't need to take any action to be able to use a barcode scanner to add this product straight to a quote. See How to scan a barcode to add a product to a quote
-
If there is no EAN, or you need to change the EAN, then click the Edit icon to the right:
You can now enter or edit the EAN box. Then click the Save icon, just under the Edit icon.
You are now able to use a barcode scanner to add this product straight to a quote. See How to scan a barcode to add a product to a quote
