How to install EQ

These instructions apply to licences of EQ software that installs onto your computer/laptop.

These are step-by-step instructions on how to install EQ on a new computer. Before you install your software please take a minute to read over the System Requirements.

Step 1 - First full installation

  1. From your Welcome email click on the link to download EQ software to your computer.
    (If you do not have the email link please use the chat at the bottom right to request the installer link).

    Your browser will download a file called EQ_v14_setup.exe. If you are prompted whether to trust or keep the file with a message like this:

  2. Click Keep / Allow to proceed. The file will be saved to your computer's Downloads folder.
     
  3. Click the filename EQ_v14_setup.exe to launch the installation wizard:

  4. Once the installation wizard is complete there will be a new EQ icon on your desktop. Double-click EQ to run it. When you run it for the first time it will prompt for registration where you can complete the details and submit for activation.

 

Network shared data

If you are connecting EQ to some existing data (for example, shared data on your network):

Important note: In May 2018 a Windows Update changed a setting that can affect EQ and the stability when it connects to the EQ database. Please see this help article for details and a resolution.

 

Step 2 - Run the latest update

 

Download the latest version from your latest catalogue update email, or obtain a link from support. Follow these steps once you have downloaded your upgrade file.

Ensure EQ is closed down on all PCs and that you are logged on to the PC with administrative
privileges.

  1. Locate the downloaded file from earlier (likely in your Downloads folder). It will be named EQUPGRADE17_xx_xx_xx.exe (where xx is the date of the upgrade)

  2. Double-click the file to run it.
    You may need to click More info, then Run anyway to proceed past the security message:

  3. Click Next to begin the installation and follow the on screen instructions.
     
  4. During loading of the progress bar click Yes to All to replace existing files:

  5. Click Finish when prompted.

Open EQ

  1. Open EQ on this PC and wait for the backup and upgrade progress bars to finish.
  2. Click OK to complete the installation.
  3. You will be returned to the password screen to login as normal.

If you are running  with EQ shared data on a network, your other EQ users can open EQ and they will be prompted with an automatic upgrade icon.

 

Step 3 - EQ Net

Following installation of EQ please download and install EQ Net, the software that downloads catalogue updates.

If you experience any difficulty using this link, try copying and pasting this link into your browsers address bar:
https://eqnet.easyquote-software.net/eqnetsetup.msi

Your browser will download a file called EQNetSetup.exe. If you are prompted whether to trust the file and proceed please click to proceed. Click the filename EQNetSetup.exe to launch the installation wizard.

 

Step 4 - PDF Driver for Windows 10

Install this PDF driver after installing EQ so that you can create PDF versions of all your documents.

Before you begin close EQ on the current computer.

1. To download the PDF driver right-click on the link and Run.
2. It will prompt you for a password to install it which is 120521-leig@eqsoftware.net
You will need to run this same installer on each PC that runs EQ.

To use the PDF driver:

Generate your documents in EQ as usual, clicking the Save PDF button (you don't need to change the printer to EQ PDF Printer). When the PDF is created it is automatically saved into your chosen folder. The chosen folder is set in the Document Archive settings, advice on changing it is here.
