When you add products to a quote/order they are added with a sequential number counting up from 1. Main items will have whole numbers and sub-items will have decimal point numbers (e.g. 1.1 then 1.2). If you delete an item it will leave a gap in the item number sequence. You can renumber the products and change the sequence that they appear on your quote/order.
This article covers:
Renumbering automatically
As you add products the item number increases and as you delete products there will be gaps in the item number sequence. To correct this and set a new numbering sequence from 1:
- Open a quote/order in Edit mode.
- Right-click on a product code - it doesn't matter which product. Select Renumber [Automatic]:
- Click Yes to confirm.
See the item numbers will be changed to run from 1 all the way through to the last item.
Renumbering manually
As you add products the item number increases and as you delete products there will be gaps in the item number sequence. You can manually set item numbers, for example to match your CAD plan.
- Open a quote/order in Edit mode.
- Right-click on a product code - it doesn't matter which product. Select Renumber [Manual]
The Renumber screen opens: - There are 2 methods to pick from at the bottom left:
Manual - You can type in the Item column to number each line item individually. Start with the highest number first and then work your way up the screen.
EQ will not allow duplicate item numbers. They will be coloured red and will not update until they are rectified.
Mover - If the specific number is less important, and you want to easily re-arrange the items pick Mover. On this screen click and drag the grey box next to an item to move up or down the list: - Click Update to save and close your renumbering. The item numbers back on the quote/order screen will be changed.
