When EQ is installed on 1 PC there is an installation folder within Program Files (x86) and a set of data folders where the data files are stored (also called datapaths). If your EQ connects to shared databases then the locations will be on your local network (LAN).
Do not change the file paths if you are unsure, as you could prevent EQ from opening, if you specify an incorrect path.
The file paths can be changed in 2 places:
Change System Config in EQ
- Open EQ and go to System Config on the top toolbar:
- Open the File Locations screen and change the top 3 locations:
- Click the ... button at the end of each line to make changes:
Both Data Location and Catalogues should be set the same as each other.
Work Files should be set the folder level 1 above the data folder, to keep a tidy structure.
Do not adjust Temporary Work, it must remain on the C: drive. - Click Update to save and close EQ.
When you re-open EQ it will be connected to the changed data location.
If EQ displays an error when you open it, you will need to check and correct your datapath using the easyquote.ini file method below.
Change the settings file easyquote.ini
You can edit the EQ data locations directly in a settings file, which is useful if you cannot open the EQ application currently.
- Use Windows Explorer to open your C: drive and view all folders.
- Open the folders Program Files (x86) and then Easyquote4 (this is the default installation folder).
- Scroll down the list of files to locate easyquote.ini Depending on your Windows settings, you may not see the extension after the dot, but it should have a similar icon show here:
- Double-click to open. If asked to select a program, pick Notepad.
The file looks like this (with default file paths): - Make any amendments in the text file here:

When you re-open EQ it will be connected to the changed data location.
